Practice Areas

I work in all areas of employment law including litigation and transactional matters. I will evaluate and investigate your employment law claims and, where appropriate, vigorously prosecute your claim.

Employment Law

Court Litigation

I am experienced and selective in bringing employment cases to federal or state court.  I prosecute court cases vigorously through discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal.  Issues addressed include discrimination, breach of contract, defamation, wage and hour, and whistle blower claims.

Agency Litigation

I bring cases in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the New York State Human Rights Division (NYS DHR) and New York City Human Rights Commission (NYC CHR).

Discrimination Claims

Under federal, state, and/or City law, your employer may not discriminate against you or harass you or subject you to a hostile work environment  because of your status:  race/color, national origin, sex, LGBTQI status, gender identity, religion, disability, pregnancy, lactation, parenting, caregiver status, arrest or conviction history, credit history, family status, age, immigration/citizenship, height and weight, veteran/military status, domestic violence status, or because you requested reasonable accommodation for disability or religious observance.  In addition, your employer may not retaliate against you for your good faith discrimination claims. I am experienced in litigating all forms of discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment, accommodation, and retaliation claims.

Other Employment Claims

I represent clients with other employment claims, including whistleblowers, breach of contract, defamation, overtime, classification, pay transparency, salary history, and workplace safety.

Restrictive Covenants

Employers may want to restrict employees’ future work for competitors, or the solicitation of customers.  I offer individuals review of these documents, and counsel on their legal implications.  I offer small businesses legal guidance on these documents, to achieve fair and reasonable results consistent with best practices.

Employment Policies

I offer small businesses careful drafting and review of employment policies and documents, and sensitive evaluation and counsel on all matters.  The goal is always to support best practices: compliance with all legal and regulatory standards, to support the success and excellence of your small business.

Employment Counsel

New jobs may come along with an offer letter, and, sometimes, a formal employment contract, which may include covenants on competition and solicitation.   I review employment documents and, where appropriate, engage strategic negotiation of enhanced terms.  I offer small businesses careful drafting of these documents, updated to reflect current law and best practices, and tailored to the particular business objectives and needs.

Severance Agreements

Jobs may end with a proposed severance agreement.  I offer Individuals legal review of severance agreements, and, where appropriate, strategic and vigorous negotiation of enhanced terms.  I offer small businesses careful drafting of these documents, tailored to the client’s particular business objectives and needs.

I represent individuals with a range of civil rights claims, including police misconduct, government whistle-blowers, housing discrimination, and discrimination in public accommodations.

Civil Rights Law

Housing and Public Accommodation Discrimination

Federal, state, and local laws prohibit housing discrimination on many grounds, including race, sex, religion, national origin, marital status, disability, source of income, and family status.    Laws also prohibit discrimination in public accommodation – stores, restaurants, hotels, and other public places.  I offer counsel and representation to individuals experiencing discrimination in renting or buying a home, or in places of public accommodation.

I represent military service members seeking discharge on the basis of conscientious objection, LGBTQI service members facing involuntary discharge, veterans seeking discharge upgrades, and civilian military employees with discrimination claims.

Military Law

Conscientious Objectors

I represent applicants for conscientious objector status and other applicants for discharges in all aspects of the application process, including applications, hearings, rebuttals, appeals, and petitions for habeas corpus relief.

Discharge and Discharge Upgrades

I offer counsel and representation to service members seeking discharge on a variety of grounds, and representation in discharge upgrade proceedings.

Civilian Military Employees

If you are a federal employee with a discrimination claim, you must file your claim within a very short period of time.  The Firm offers counsel and representation to civilian employees of the military and military contractors.
